I was born in 1994 in Istanbul, a city where history, culture, and music breathe side by side. My journey with music truly began in 2008 when I entered the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory’s Instrument Department and was accepted into the Classical Kemençe program. That moment shaped the path my life would follow.
My kemençe education began under Hasan Esen, a respected TRT conductor and master kemençe performer. His discipline and musicality formed the foundation of my technique. In the years that followed, I continued my training with Assoc. Prof. Neva Özgen Kösoğlu, whose mentorship broadened my understanding of the instrument’s expressive language.
In 2013, I took part in the seminars and workshops led by Derya Türkan under the Labyrinth Musical Workshop. These sessions opened new artistic horizons for me. Soon after, I found myself stepping into a very different musical environment as part of Ayhan Sicimoğlu Latin Allstars in the Turcolatino projects—an experience that helped me understand how versatile and universal the kemençe can be.
In 2016, I joined Derya Türkan once again in Atölye: İstanbul Müziği and the OMAR III International Summer School, where I also performed several mini concerts. I graduated from the Conservatory in 2018 and began working as a guest kemençe performer with the Istanbul University OMAR Ensemble. Around the same period, I started performing with the CRR Turkish Music Ensemble under the direction of Refik Hakan Talu, which marked one of the early milestones of my professional career.
2019 brought new experiences, including performing in the program “Hymns from Cyprus to Turkey” alongside Ahmet Özhan, one of the most influential voices of Turkish classical music. In the same year, I joined the Istanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a classical kemençe artist—a role that I continue to hold today.
In 2021, I released my project “Nefes,” a digital album consisting of three duo pieces, including my own compositions. This was a special milestone for me, as it allowed me to share my personal musical voice with a wider audience.
In 2022, I had the honor of performing at the Elbphilharmonie Sufi Festival in Hamburg, one of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls. I have also taken part in many concerts, television broadcasts, and radio programs of TRT Istanbul Radio, where I continue to perform on a contracted basis.
In 2023, I completed my Master’s Degree in Turkish Music at Haliç University under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Erol Deran and Prof. Dr. Murat Salim Tokaç, both of whom deeply influenced my artistic growth.
Most recently, in 2025, I had the privilege of performing at the Fujairah International Oud Forum and at Sami Yusuf’s concert in Istanbul, experiences that further broadened my international perspective.
Today, I continue my artistic life as a member of the Istanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble. Every rehearsal, every new composition, and every stage reminds me why I chose this instrument and this path. The kemençe has been my voice for many years, and I remain devoted to exploring its endless possibilities.
