I was born in 1980 in Gaziantep, Turkey, and my relationship with music began long before I fully understood what it meant to choose a path in life. In 1988, when I was eight years old, my father introduced me to the kanun. Those early lessons were more than simple exercises—they were the first steps into a world that would become my home, my language, and my lifelong passion.
Between 1998 and 2002, I studied at the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory. Those years shaped me not only as a musician but also as a thinker; they allowed me to understand the depth, subtlety, and philosophy behind the musical traditions I had grown up with. Wanting to explore further, I continued with my master’s degree at Haliç University (Golden Horn University) from 2003 to 2005.
The year 2003 was a turning point in my career. I joined the Bursa State Choir as a kanun artist, marking my first long-term institutional role. In the same year, I began performing abroad with Burhan Öçal’s Oriental Ensemble. These concerts exposed me to multicultural audiences and taught me how music transcends borders, languages, and expectations.
From 2004 to 2007, I traveled around the world with the Konya Derwishes, performing Sufi music on international stages. These experiences were profoundly meaningful to me—not only musically, but spiritually. In 2005, I began giving my own concerts in France under the Turquoize Production label, a chapter that allowed me to express my music with greater independence.
Between 2007 and 2010, I had the privilege of performing with world-renowned artist Omar Faruk Tekbilek. Sharing the stage with him broadened my artistic perspective and enriched my approach to performance.
Today, I continue my musical journey both in Turkey and abroad. Every concert, every collaboration, and every new project reminds me of that first moment in 1988 when I touched the kanun for the very first time. Music has never been just a profession for me—it is the thread that runs through every stage of my life, connecting my past, my present, and everything still to come.
